Clearwire to Sell Stake in Irish WiMax Provider

WASHINGTON August 2, 2010 – Clearwire will sell its majority share of Irish WiMax provider Imagine Communications Group. Details of the sale have not been made public. Imagine is the only WiMax provider in Ireland and plans to cover 90 percent of nation by the end of 2012.

“This is a very significant and strategic deal for us as Clearwire is one of the world’s leading 4G operators,” said Mr. Brian O’Donohoe, MD of Imagine Communications Group, “Key network and operational assets, as well as a talented technical team, will serve as a solid launch pad for expanding service and making 4G mobile broadband a reality across Ireland.”
