The Rural Digital Opportunity Fund reverse-auction was the source of considerable discussion about its impact upon broadband deployment in underserved areas. There has been less talk about how it has impacted existing broadband providers. This session will consider the many active conversations currently taking place among smaller internet companies. The interest and momentum behind mergers and acquisitions presents an opportunity for providers seeking an exit, and for companies seeking growth opportunities.

Panelists:

- **Andre Demattia**, CEO, Talkie Communications
- **Ron Mayes**, President, Advantage Communications
- **Drew Clark** (moderator), Editor and Publisher of Broadband Breakfast

**Andre** **Demattia** is the CEO of Talkie Communications. Talkie was started by Andre and his twin brother Andrew Demattia. Andre has 21 years of telecommunications experience. Andre started at Verizon in 2000 is the DSL provision and maintenance team. After 16 years of Verizon he decided to branch out and start a telecommunications company. Talkie communications offers fiber internet, phone, TV and home security systems.

**Ron Mayes** is President and Founder of Advantage Communications Inc. He has experience in the wireless communications industry, including paging, cellular, two-way radio, public safety access points, wireless internet service providers, and also IP Camera systems, in-building Distributive Antenna Systems and infrastructure-level repair and maintenance. He is the past editor of the International Magazine The REACTer and several small business and hobby groups publications.

**Drew Clark,** [Editor and Publisher of Broadband Breakfast](https://broadbandbreakfast.com/author/drew-clark/), also serves as Of Counsel to [The CommLaw Group](https://commlawgroup.com/attorneys/andrew-drew-clark/?ref=broadbandbreakfast.com). He has helped fiber-based and fixed wireless providers negotiate telecom leases and fiber IRUs, litigate to operate in the public right of way, and argue regulatory classifications before federal and state authorities.
