January 22, 2009 – The [Berkshire Eagle](http://www.berkshireeagle.com/ci%5F11509687?ref=broadbandbreakfast.com) reports that Berkshire Regional Planning Commission is eager to get broadband funds in the stimulus legislation being considered on Capitol Hill.

According to the Eagle:

\[BRPC Chairman Nathaniel\] Karns said broadband capability is a fundamental need in order for the Berkshires to compete with other areas.

“Part of what is attractive about the Berkshires is the ability for a lot of people to live and work in the country,” Karns said. “If you live and work in the county, you’ve got to have broadband.”
