WASHINGTON, July 16, 2010 – **Nick Sinai**, Director of Energy & Environment for the Federal Communications Commission’s Omnibus Broadband Initiative will keynote The Broadband Breakfast Club’s event “The Smart Grid, Telecommunications and the Electric Infrastructure” on Tuesday, July 20th, 2010 8 am – 10 am at Clyde’s of Gallery Place, 707 7th St. NW, Washington, DC 20001.

Sinai will be expected to discuss the status of smart grid policy development at the FCC and the expansions proposed in the National Broadband Plan and other FCC programs.

Nick leads a team exploring how broadband and advanced communications can help the nation achieve its goals of energy independence and energy efficiency. Nick is a former venture capitalist and entrepreneur. Most recently, he served in executive and advisory roles with two Boston area clean energy technology companies, and served as a senior advisor to the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center.

Nick played a key role in building the clean energy practice at Polaris Venture Partners, and subsequently served as a Principal of Tenaya Capital. He also has private equity experience at Madison Dearborn Partners. Earlier in his career, he was a senior management consultant with Cambridge Strategic Management Group, where he led teams working with large communications and media companies. He earned an M.B.A from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, and an A.B. from Harvard University.

Panelists at the event will be **Joseph Andersen**, Energy & Environment Consultant, Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA); **Bob Hance**, President and CEO of the Midwest Energy Cooperative; **Brett Kilbourne**, Director of Regulatory Services and Associate Counsel, Utilities Telecom Council (UTC); and **Larry Plumb**, Executive Director, Emerging Issues & Technology Policy, Verizon; plus Nick Sinai.

American and Continental breakfasts are included in the event tickets of $45 plus a modest online registration fee. The program begins shortly after 8:30 a.m.

Previously, Ms. Brumfield was President of Emerging Media Dynamics, an advisory services firm consulting with cable, wireless, telco, technology and content companies.
