# Former FTC Commissioner Confirmed as U.S. Attorney in Utah

WASHINGTON, May 12, 2026 — The Senate[voted](https://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll%5Fcall%5Fvotes/vote1192/vote%5F119%5F2%5F00114.htm/?ref=broadbandbreakfast.com) May 11to confirm **Melissa Holyoak,** aformer member of the Federal Trade Commission, as thenew U.S. Attorney in Utah for a four-year term. 

Holyoak was [appointed](https://www.ftc.gov/news-events/news/press-releases/2025/11/ftc-commissioner-melissa-holyoak-appointed-interim-us-attorney?ref=broadbandbreakfast.com) Nov. 17, 2025, to be interim U.S. Attorney in Utah by then-Attorney General **Pam Bondi**. 

Holyoak, a Republican who joined the FTC in 2024, resigned the same day she was appointed by Bondi. 

Holyoak [served as Utah’s solicitor general for three years](https://www.ftc.gov/news-events/news/press-releases/2025/11/ftc-commissioner-melissa-holyoak-appointed-interim-us-attorney?ref=broadbandbreakfast.com) and was a lawyer at the Center for Class Action Fairness, a free-market public interest law firm.
