“The Call to Action for 6G Leadership and Security reflects an unprecedented level of international coordination on the future of communications technology,” NTIA Administrator **Arielle Roth** said in the [July 27 release](https://www.ntia.gov/press-release/2026/ntia-launches-global-call-action-6g-leadership-and-security?ref=broadbandbreakfast.com). “By working now with trusted partners, we will ensure that next-generation networks reflect our shared security interests, strengthen our competitiveness and drive innovation.”

The NTIA is launching the Call to Action with 20 partner governments that span Europe, the Indo-Pacific and the Western Hemisphere. Participating governments have pledged to strengthen 6G cooperation to support resilience, security and interoperability in next-generation networks.

The initiative will also recognize that trusted artificial intelligence is key to the development and operation of secure, innovative 6G networks and establish specific milestones to strengthen strategic coordination and clear the way for private-sector innovation.

The Call to Action is advancing the objective of President **Donald Trump’s** [Dec. 2025](https://broadbandbreakfast.com/white-house-wants-portions-of-7-ghz-band-for-licensed-use/) Presidential Memorandum on [“Winning the 6G Race,”](https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/12/national-security-presidential-memorandum-nspm-8-0bda/?ref=broadbandbreakfast.com) an initiative that identifies next generation 6G networks as crucial to the prosperity and national security of the U.S.

[The memo](https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/12/national-security-presidential-memorandum-nspm-8-0bda/?ref=broadbandbreakfast.com), signed by President **Donald Trump**, said, “It is the policy of the United States to lead the world in 6G development.” The memo directed the NTIA to immediately reallocate the 7.125-7.4 Gigahertz spectrum band for full-power commercial operations.

On [July 29](https://www.csis.org/events/launching-international-call-action-6g-leadership-and-security?ref=broadbandbreakfast.com), Roth and Deputy Secretary of Commerce **Paul Dabbar** will speak about the Call to Action at an event hosted by the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, D.C.
