WASHINGTON, December 7, 2010 – The internet and intellectual property policy news and events service BroadbandBreakfast.com is postponing its December breakfast , “China & Intellectual Property with the Chinese Embassy IP Attache.”

An unforeseen change in the schedule of Fuli Chen, the Chinese Embassy Intellectual Property Attache, has caused the postponement, owing to the visit of Chinese Vice Premier Wang Qishan to Washington next week.

The event, which was to be on December 14th, 2010, has been rescheduled for February 8th, 2011. Registration for the February 8 event is available at http://ipbreakfastfebruary2011.eventbrite.com/

In addition to Fuli Chen of the Chinese Embassy, other panelists participating in the February 8, 2011, event include Steven E. Adkins, a partner in intellectual property at the law firm Orrick; and Mark Allen Cohen, director of international intellectual property policy for Microsoft Corporation.

The February 8 event will focus on the trade tools that the United States can use to protect companies and to urge the Chinese to respect intellectual property rights, as well as the politics in Congress and how that will affect the direction of trade policy and U.S. relationship with China.

Long a manufacturing powerhouse, China has emerged as a competitor in the realm of ideas and intellectual property. Intellectual Property Breakfast Club panelists will discuss how China is presently handling copyrights, patents, and trademarks through words and deeds, and then move into China’s plans for the future. The event will also explore the implications of China’s projected IP laws, policies and actions have on the U.S.’s, and on other countries’, ability to penetrate the Chinese marketplace, or for global economic competition in general.

The event will take place at Clyde’s of Gallery Place, 707 7th St. NW, Washington, DC 20001, from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. American and Continental breakfasts are included. The program begins shortly after 8:30 a.m.
