FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski to Speak at BroadbandBreakfast.com’s National Town Hall Webcast
WASHINGTON, January 11, 2010 – The issues of copyright, Net neutrality and the national broadband plan will collide at BroadbandBreakfast.com’s National Town Hall Webcast on Tuesday, January 19, 2010.
Federal Communications Commission Chairman Julius Genachowski has confirmed that he will offer video remarks to kick off the Town Hall Webcast, by BroadbandBreakfast.com.
The event is on track to be the definitive Washington gathering: Where the telecom, media and technology industries thrash out their perspectives in an informative and neutral setting.
The event consists of breakfast at Clyde’s of Gallery Place from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. ET, followed by a LIVE webcast from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. ET.
The event will be moderated by respected Washington journalists Kim Hart, Reporter for The Hill, and Drew Clark, Editor of BroadbandBreakfast.com.

The “Net Neutrality, Copyright Protection and the National Broadband Plan” Town Hall Webcast features three hotly contested subjects in Washington.
The entertainment industry wants copyright protections baked into the FCC’s national broadband plan. Some of them, including Rick Carnes, President of the Songwriters’ Guild of America and a panelist, are wary of Net neutrality rules championed by Genachowski and some technology companies.
The telecom industry hasn’t traditionally gone out of its way for the recording and motion picture industries. But that was before Net neutrality rules featured prominently on the FCC’s radar.
Officials from telecom and cable companies, including Time Warner Cable Vice President of External Affairs and Policy Counselor Fernando Laguarda will discuss their industry’s approach to the nettlesome issues of copyright and Net neutrality.
