Disney: Round One goes to FCC Chairman Brendan Carr. A federal judge in Washington has rejected Disney’s bid for an expedited hearing in its lawsuit challenging the FCC’s early license review of eight ABC stations. U.S. District Judge Loren AliKhan on Aug. 20 denied the company’s request to hold a hearing by Tuesday on its motion for a temporary restraining order, agreeing with the government that an urgent session was unnecessary. The ruling means Disney will proceed under the standard briefing schedule as it seeks to halt the FCC’s review. “We are pleased that the judge has now rejected Disney’s meritless attempt to rush into court,” an FCC spokesman said. (More after paywall)
