As Vice President of Strategy, BD, & Marketing for Samsung Electronics America, Alok Shah directs strategy, marketing and new business development for Samsung’s North American Networks division. His work in technical marketing, strategy, product management, and engineering culminate to 20 years in the wireless industry. Mr. Shah received a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in electrical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Brian Scarpelli is Senior Global Policy Counsel at ACT | The App Association, where he represents small app makers and software companies, in the mobile economy and app industry. He has previously had experience in radio broadcasting and several communications industry trade associations. As chair of the Federal Communications Commission’s Communications Security, Reliability, and Interoperability Council, he oversees security-by design efforts for hardware software.

Jim Medica was appointed to senior advisor at NTIA in April of this year. As a globally recognized service provider, Jim has served as former group vice president of advanced engineering at Charter Communications (Spectrum) and Time Warner. Previous to his work at Charter/Time Warner in 2001, Jim supported the successful implementation and management of customer engagements and client licensed holdings at Cisco Systems, MCI, and Skadden, Arps Slate, Meagher and Flom.

Still, the need for far more facilities has already created tensions with municipalities over rights-of-way. How can these conflicts be minimized? • Wednesday, February 10, 2021, 12 Noon ET — “A No-Nonsense Guide to 5G: Spectrum Policies to Advance Better Broadband”
  • More than simply the next generation of wireless technology, 5G deployments make use of radio frequencies from an extremely wide range. For example, some 5G deployment are using mid-band spectrum between 3.4 GigaHertz (GHz) and 6 GHz. But 5G networks also promise tap into spectrum between 24 GHz and 100 GHz. It deploys these millimeter bands using network slicing and other advanced wireless tools. What new spectrum policies are necessary for 5G to flourish?
