LEO: FCC Chairman Brendan Carr said Wednesday the agency will vote April 30 on satellite rule changes that could benefit low-Earth-orbit broadband systems such as Elon Musk’s Starlink. Carr’s press release said the FCC plans to modernize satellite spectrum-sharing rules, a shift that would allow higher power limits for some low-Earth-orbit satellites and replace a decades-old framework designed to protect geostationary-orbit systems. The changes, Carr said, could unlock more than $2 billion in economic benefits and deliver up to seven times more capacity for space-based broadband. (More after paywall)
