As part of the Federal Communications Commissions’ preparation for a national broadband plan, the agency has been holding a series of workshops and public meetings to gain advice from the public. Individuals on the West coast will be able to weigh in on the use of radio-frequency spectrum at a field hearing in San Diego on Thursday, October 8.
FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski and Commissioner Meredith Attwell Baker are scheduled to attend the event. The first panel of the day will focus on mobile applications and broadband, this will look at the explosive growth of the smartphone market along with other mobile platforms. The second panel will be more focused on spectrum issues and how it will affect mobile broadband in the future.
The event is scheduled to run from 9 a.m. PDT to 12:15 PDT, at the Joan B. Kroc Institute of Peace and Justice at the University of San Diego.
