WASHINGTON, March 13, 2009 – BroadbandCensus.com and CCMI have teamed up to offer a free public webinar, “Navigate the $7.2 Billion Broadband Stimulus: A Compass For Stakeholders,” on March 19, at 2 p.m. ET. Incumbent service providers and new market entrants all want a piece of the $7.2 billion pie, but deciphering the details on how the money will be allocated, and to whom, is difficult and time consuming.
Registration for the event is available at http://ccmi.com/broadbandstimulus.
Moderator Drew Clark, founder and executive director of BroadbandCensus.com, has assembled a stellar line-up of Washington insiders and telecom practioners for a in-depth look at the broadband stimulus plan in the FREE 60-minute webinar.
Drew is widely recognized as a go-to expert on broadband policy and technology in Washington, and he’ll set the stage and lead the discussion on the implementation of the broadband stimulus legislation.
Also on the program:
- John Kneuer, Former Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Communications & Information, National Telecommunications and Information Administration. The NTIA has the largest sum of broadband stimulus funds to dispense, and John will speak about the agency and its grant-making history.
- Hilda Legg, Former Administrator, Rural Utilities Services, U.S. Department of Agriculture. Hilda will outline the RUS loan-making program, and will talk about successes and opportunities for improvement of rural broadband programs.
- Andrew Cohill, President, Design Nine, Inc. Andrew advises municipalities and small- and mid-sized-telecommunications providers on network infrastructure, and he will detail opportunities for new entrants in attracting broadband stimulus funds.
Those who participate in the program will be able to understand the rules and procedures that the Commerce Department’s National Telecommunications & Information Administration (NTIA) and the Agriculture Department’s Rural Utilities Service (RUS) will put in place to award the funds.
Discover who will be responsible for mapping broadband – states or private entities? This is a critical determinant of how stimulus funds are allocated.
Decipher the broadband speed and service quality dynamics that guide technology and investment decisions, and the critical differences between “unserved” and “underserved” markets.
Learn how the new – and still unformed – Federal Communications Commission (FCC) will impact broadband policy and strategy.
