WASHINGTON, Jan. 28, 2025 – Following a flurry of staff appointments on Jan. 21, Federal Communications Commission Chairman Brendan Carr has announced additional appointments to help run the agency.

He appointed the following acting leaders:

  • Tom Sullivan, Acting Chief of the Office of International Affairs. Sullivan, who has served in the FCC since 1991, will guide agency actions regarding external actors, entities, and stakeholders.
  • Ira Keltz, Acting Chief Engineer, Office of Engineering and Technology. Keltz will provide technical support and expertise to the Chairperson, Commissioners, and FCC Bureaus and Offices. He has totaled 29 years of experience in the FCC.
  • Catherine Matraves, Acting Chief of the Office of Economics and Analytics. Matraves will guide the agency’s policy decisions through analysis and monitor their economic impact. She joined the FCC in 2010.
  • Katie Gorscak, Acting Director of the Office of Media Relations. Gorscak, who has been with the agency for 10 years, will oversee the Commission’s communications, including interviews, press releases, announcements, and more.

Carr, a Republican tapped to lead the FCC by President Trump, said he is “grateful that these talented professionals have agreed to step in and serve the FCC in these important roles.”
