WASHINGTON, July 7, 2010 – Last week, Frontier Communications, which specializes in rural broadband, purchased land-line operations in 14 states from Verizon wireless, at a price of $5.3 billion.
Speaking about the significance of Frontier’s purchase, Executive Vice President Steve Crosby said, “”We understand and serve smaller communities. Verizon operates differently.”
The purchase of Verizon’s operations has made Frontier the largest rural telecommunications company currently operating in the United States. Frontier, which officially incorporated in 1965, projects revenues at $6 million, and serves over 4 million customers in 27 states.
