Pay TV: U.S. households pay a median $125 a month for cable and satellite TV – about $1,500 a year — according to the 2026 doxoINSIGHTS U.S. Cable & Satellite Report released on Aug. 27. The report, based on bill‑payment data covering 97% of ZIP codes, found that 74% of households still carry a pay‑TV bill, a market worth $172 billion. The median cable bill now sits just $4 below the typical electric bill, and despite industry losses – including subscriber declines at EchoStar, Comcast and Charter – pay‑TV costs remain stubbornly high, doxo said. Subscribers in Vermont, South Carolina, Delaware, Nebraska, and Rhode Island had the highest bills in the U.S. (More after paywall)
