WASHINGTON, June 13, 2025 — Starlink will end its promotion offering free user terminals to new customers on June 25.
Starlink made the announcement in an email on Thursday. The promotion, begun in in April, eliminated the $349 equipment charge. The elimination of the charge was available mainly to customers who signed up for the Residential plan with a 12-month commitment.
The announcement came shortly after the National Telecommunications and Information Administration issued updated guidance to the $42.5 billion Broadband Equity, Access and Deployment program. The rewritten rule creates new bidding rounds, giving Starlink the chance to be reimbursed for the equipment.
Starlink's low-earth orbit satellites serve hard-to-reach areas, providing states a reason to use Starlink through BEAD-funded deployments.
