WASHINGTON, June 22, 2017 — President Donald Trump on Thursday told reporters his administration is focused on eliminating regulations that could hinder investment and growth in the technology sector.
“My administration has been laser focused on removing the government barriers to job growth and prosperity,” Trump said during the White House’s American Leadership in Emerging Technologies event Thursday. “We want our innovators to dream big like the folks around me and surrounding me in this room.”
Trump took note of the numerous examples of next-generation technologies showcased in the room, including drones and 5th Generation wireless cell sites, noting that the country is on the verge of a “new technological revolution” that could greatly improve the lives of all Americans.
“We’re on the verge of new technological revolutions that could improve virtually every aspect.
“Today’s conversation will move America one step closer to that bright future we’re all talking about and longing for,” Trump said.
Other government officials attending the event included FCC Chairman Ajit Pai, National Economic Council Director Gary Cohn, and Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross.
Senior Advisor Jared Kushner, who earlier this week led the inaugural meeting of the American Technology Council, also attended.
