Final Broadband Grant Schedule Published
WASHINGTON August 4, 2010-With only 60 days left to disperse the remaining $4 billion in stimulus funding the departments of Commerce and Agriculture have released a schedule of disbursement.
WASHINGTON August 4, 2010-With only 60 days left to disperse the remaining $4 billion in stimulus funding the departments of Commerce and Agriculture have released a schedule of disbursement.
Today the Agriculture Department announced 126 new grants and will announce the next set of 50 grants worth $190 million during the week of August 16. That same week Commerce will announce 70 grants worth $1.3-$1.6 billion; both sets of grants will be focused on public computing, broadband adoption, community infrastructure, and some public safety projects.
The next announcements will happen during the week of September 6 and contain the final set of grants by Agriculture totaling $450 million and support last mile projects. That week Commerce will present another set of general infrastructure grants totaling $600-900 million.
The final set of grants will be dispersed the final week of September and will primarily be focused on public safety and mapping programs.
